Washington, D.C. — Bellator vet Enrique Barzola snapped a two-fight skid at PFL Washington this past Friday, earning a unanimous decision win over Tyler Diamond.
Peru’s Barzola (21-9-2) was shut out of the playoffs this year, but the victory at least sets him up to have another go in 2025, if he doesn’t fight sooner.
Speaking with media outlets including Cageside Press following the fight, Barzola dedicated the victory to his native Peru. “This fight was for Peru. I love Peru, I do everything for Peru,” exclaimed Barzola, who trains both at home and at San Jose’s American Kickboxing Academy.
Asked about bringing the PFL to Peru, Barzola said it’s been in the works. “That’s something we are working with alongside my trainer, to be able to bring a show to Peru, and I would love to fight in front of the people,” he stated.
The game plan against Diamond, Barzola later revealed, was “pressure, pressure, pressure, always bringing the attitude, the desire to want to win.” That had him approaching the fight like “a bloodthirsty hitman. I would kill him and that was my job.; we made a good plan with my team, and that was the result.”
Brazola spoke to Cageside Press about the determination he shows in the cage, fight in and fight out.
“I’m a dog in the cage, that’s something that I pride myself on,” he stated, before crediting his team for much of his success, especially when they’re all together. “Sometimes it’s because of other fights going on, health issues but whenever I’ve got my team, I feel much more confident that they will make a good game plan for me, and just help me to my maximum potential.”
