UFC APEX – UFC welterweight Michael Morales will face the toughest test of his career at UFC Vegas 96 on Saturday night when he meets Neil Magny in the octagon.
“I think Neil’s got a great journey in the UFC,” Morales told reporters through a translator on Wednesday.
“I’ve watched a lot of his fights. I watched a lot of his work, mostly his losses, so I did see some breaches in his game, some opportunities that I can take advantage of. I think he’s coming in to give us a good fight just like myself.”
Morales (16-0) brings his undefeated record into UFC Vegas 96 with a chance to add Magny to his resume. A victory could prove very valuable for the young welterweight.
“He’s been good, not only in the division but also in the rankings too, which actually gives me the opportunity to go up in the rankings as well. That’s what I want to do. I want to increase the level of competition that I fight against and be in the rankings as well,” said Morales.
Morales spent time training with new UFC welterweight champion Belal Muhammad in preparation for the fight against Leon Edwards. Morales touted Muhammad as a humble and helpful person.
“For those of you who don’t know Belal, such a nice guy, such a charismatic guy, somebody that wants to learn,” he said.
“Willing to learn. Very humble. I learned from him so we both learned from each other. I feel kind of proud about the fact that I was able to help him become a champion.”
