Two names that should no doubt be familiar to UFC fans topped Friday’s CFFC 134 card, as Chris Daukaus took on Tafon Nchukwi in a heavyweight battle.
For Daukaus, a former ranked UFC heavyweight who had tried his hand at 205lbs at the tail end of his run with the promotion, it was his first fight back post-octagon. Looking to build momentum and work his way back to the big show, Daukaus had accepted the fight at heavyweight with plans to continue his career at 205lbs.
Now 34-years old, Daukaus, a former police officer, had started his run in the UFC 4-0, but ended it 0-4. He’d shared the cage with the likes of Alexei Oleinik, Derrick Lewis, and Khalil Rountree Jr., among others, with the Rountree loss in particular aging well.
Tafon Nchukwi, 29, had won his way into the UFC in 2020 via Dana White’s Contender Series. After winning two of his first three fights, he went on an 0-3 skid that spelled his exit from the promotion. Nchukwi, like Daukaus, had not fought since his release.
