Perth – UFC heavyweight Jairzinho Rozenstruik is not confused as to who the heavyweight champ is as he gets set to face Tau Tuivasa at UFC 305 on Saturday night.
“Let’s be honest Jon Jones is the real champ,” Rozenstruik told reporters on Wednesday.
“Tom (Aspinall) did what he’s supposed to do as interim champ because he’s in line for the next championship fight, but Jon Jones is the real champ. Take nothing away from Tom he did an amazing job and that’s what he’s supposed to do.”
Aspinall has been calling for a fight with Jones prior to finishing Curtis Blaydes at UFC 304. With the victory it’s clear that Aspinall would be in line for a proper title fight should the winner of Jones vs. Stipe Miocic remain in the UFC.
Rozenstruik (14-5) face Tuivasa in Perth. Two heavy-handed strikers getting into the octagon seems like a recipe for fireworks and a short fight.
“You know what I think I go for the first round knockout all the time cuz I know I have the ability. If it goes to the second round or the third round I might take my time, finish it off, make it a proper knockout,” he said.
“Brutal, crazy, highlight, you know?”
