Danny Sabatello returns to action and makes his official PFL debut this Friday at PFL Hollywood, and the motor-mouthed “Italian Gangster” was as enthusiastic as ever (that’s one way of putting it) in a recent interview with Cageside Press.
Sabatello comes in on an 0-2 run from his Bellator days, but with the acquisition of Bellator MMA by the PFL, the American Top Team fighter believes the sky is the limit. He’s now lined up with Lazaro Dayron, an undefeated up-and-comer also out of the Florida area.
“After doing some research and watching some of his fights, I see that he’s just very sloppy and not on the same level that I am. Skill-wise, speed-wise, strength-wise, intelligence-wise, everything, I’m going to be better everywhere,” exclaimed Sabatello (14-4), who promised that the fight would “be an absolute master class. I’m going to f*ck him up, I’m going to claw his face off.”
Referring to himself as a “caged animal” after some time away from competition, Sabatello added that “I’m just going to take it out on this motherf*cker.”
Despite competing under the PFL banner this Friday, Sabatello still has his sights set on the Bellator bantamweight championship. With champ Patchy Mix facing Leandro Higo shortly, Sabatello likes his options. “Patchy’s fighting my sloppy seconds. I don’t know who’s going to win, I’m very excited for that. I do see myself beating either one of those guys for the belt. Maybe the beginning of next year. I’ve got to get a couple of wins this year, and then I’ll be beating the f*ck out of Patchy, which is a dream come true match-up, or I beat the f*ck out of Higo again, it doesn’t really matter to me. I enjoyed beating the f*ck out of him.”
That said, Sabatello reiterated his excited for the fight. “I think it is very exciting, I’m excited to see who comes out on top in that one.”
