In news that doesn’t exactly come as a surprise, the upcoming UFC Edmonton card on November 2, 2024 will have a strong Canadian contingent.
The Fight Night event, marking the promotion’s second card on Canadian soil this year following UFC 297 in January, was officially announced by the promotion on Thursday. Per a report by SportsNet’s Aaron Bronsteter, a number of Canadian talents are set to appear.
Those include Marc-Andre Barriault, Chad Anheliger, and Jamey-Lyn Horth. Jasmine Jasudavicius will additionally face Ariane Da Silva at the event.
Middleweight Barriault (16-8, 1NC), a former TKO double champ, will look to shake off back-to-back losses come November. He dropped a decision to Chris Curtis at UFC 297 in a disastrous night for the Canadian men in Toronto this past January (they went 0-6, while the ladies went 2-0), and was knocked out by Joe Pyfer at UFC 303.
The “Power Bar” will take on Dustin Stoltzfus (15-6), who finds himself coming in off a loss to Brunno Ferreira, in Edmonton
Chad Anheliger (13-7), a 2021 Contender Series winner, has gone 2-2 through his four fights with the UFC, most recently picking up a decision victory against Charalampos Grigoriou. That came back in March, at an Apex-based Fight Night event. Three of Anheliger’s four fights with the UFC, in fact, have come at the Apex in Las Vegas, without a proper crowd. The lone exception was UFC 279 in 2022, at the T-Mobile Arena in Vegas, making UFC Edmonton Anheliger’s Canadian debut for the promotion.
Prior to his UFC run, Anheliger was a bantamweight champ for Canadian promotion Rise FC. The 37-year old is an Alberta native fighting out of Calgary. He’ll take on Ultimate Fighter 31 finalist Cody Gibson (20-10) on November 2.
Finally, Jamey-Lyn Horth (6-1) will look to bounce back from the first loss of her pro career, against Veronica Hardy, in Edmonton. She’s paired up with Ivana Petrovic (7-1), who enters the flyweight fight off a win over Na Liang. Like Horth, Petrovic is 1-1 under the UFC banner.
UFC Edmonton on November 2, 2024 takes place at the Rogers Place with the following fights announced (all match-ups confirmed by the UFC):
- Erin Blanchfield vs. Rose Namajunas
- Derrick Lewis vs. Alexander Romanov
- Jasmine Jasudavicius vs. Ariane Da Silva
