Conor McGregor is not a fan of former president Donald Trump’s pick for favorite fighter.

During an interview with streamer Adin Ross the former president named former UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov as his favorite fighter.

McGregor (22-6) took exception to the choice calling it a “campaign ending decision”.

McGregor and Nurmagomedov have plenty of history including issues outside of the cage. Prior to UFC 223, where Nurmagomedov would go on to defeat Al Iaquinta, former McGregor teammate Artem Lobov had an altercation with the Dagestani fighter.

After hearing about the altercation McGregor flew to Brooklyn where the event too place and ran around looking for Nurmagomedov ultimately throwing a dolly through a bus window. The bus had UFC fighters, managers and staff in it.

The beef came to a head when the two fought for the lightweight title at UFC 229 where Nurmagomedov defeated McGregor via submission. Since then the Irish superstar has continued to try and entice Nurmagomedov back to the octagon even though the latter announced his retirement in 2020.

Michael Chandler, who is supposed to face him next, replied to the tweet aimed at Trump.

‘The Notorious’ has since deleted his tweets at Trump and Chandler.

The UFC has yet to announce a date to rebook the fight between Conor McGregor and Michael Chandler, but the two have spoken on social media about a potential December event.
