UFC middleweights Jared Cannonier and Caio Borralho will headline UFC Vegas 96 on Aug 24 at the UFC APEX in Las Vegas.
The promotion made the announcement on Tuesday.
Cannonier (17-7) gets his fifth straight main event bout when he faces Borralho at the UFC APEX. Coming off a loss to Nassourdine Imavov at UFC Louisville in June he looks to bounce back in August. Cannonier has fought the who’s who at middleweight including fights against Sean Strickland, Israel Adesanya, Marvin Vettori, Kelvin Gastelum, Derek Brunson and Anderson Silva.
Borralho (16-1) has yet to be beaten in his UFC run. 6 consecutive victories, not including his Contender Series wins, include wins over Michal Oleksiejczuk, Abus Magomedov and Paul Craig.
A victory over the #5 ranked Cannonier could push #12 ranked Borralho into the top 5 and much closer to a title shot.
