Nate Landwehr: Max Holloway Got “Golden Ticket” After Gaethje Performance

One train that has been running full steam ahead of late has been Nate Landwehr, a featherweight fan favorite who is well aware of the exciting scene at 145lbs at the moment.

Landwehr (18-5), a former M-1 champ hailing from Clarksville, TN, is 3-1 across his last four fights, and has become known for his exciting, take-no-prisoners style. It’s the rest of the division, however, that has him saying it’s a great time to be a fighter, especially at featherweight.

With some big match-ups on the horizon, “it brings more stock to the division, it makes it more exciting for the fans, and it’s just a great time to be a fighter,” Landwehr told Cageside Press.

As for his own exciting style, there’s no pressure to live up to expectations. That’s just how Landwehr fights, and it doesn’t appear he knows any other way.

“I am who I am. Like I tell people, I ain’t got enough gas to turn around, I got to make it to that destination,” stated Landwehr. “So I’m in this life til it’s over.”

Many have suggested Landwehr would be a perfect fit for the likes of BKFC, with his come-forward style and bare-knuckle boxing on the rise.

“There’s a lot of hype right now in bare-knuckle, man it’s not off the table,” admitted Landwehr. But as he pointed out, Nate the Train in bare-knuckle doesn’t have quite the same ring to it as Nate the Train in the UFC.

Nate “The Train” Landwehr also gave his thoughts on Topuria vs. Holloway.

“Max Holloway pretty much got the golden ticket after what he did to Gaethje. Plus you put that on the fact that Topuria is one of the most fastest rising stars, he’s got all of Spain behind him – that’s going to be one of the biggest PPVs you can think of.”
