The “King of Rio” is set to continue his UFC career, as Jose Aldo appears to have re-signed with the promotion, with a fight now targeted for UFC 307.
Aldo (32-8), a former two-time featherweight champ and UFC Hall of Famer, returned from retirement this past May, defeating Jonathan Martinez and finishing off his contract in the process.
Now, Aldo has been booked opposite Mario Bautista (14-2) for UFC 307, set to take place in Salt Lake City, Utah on October 5, 2024. Bautista confirmed the booking on social media following an initial report by Ag.Fight.
Following his win over Martinez, Aldo had teased a possible return to boxing, where he posted a 1-0-1 record in 2023, while retired from the UFC. The 37-year old now returns to a bantamweight division where he is 4-1 across his last five fights, with the lone loss coming to current title challenger Merab Dvalishvili.
Bautista has won six straight fights in the UFC’s bantamweight division, most recently earning a decision victory over Ricky Simon. That run includes three consecutive submission wins against Brian Kelleher, Benito Lopez, and Guido Cannetti. Bautista earned a Performance of the Night bonus for his submission of Lopez.
UFC 307 features the following reported bouts, with a title fight between Raquel Pennington and Julianna Pena also rumored for the card:
- Movsar Evloev vs. Aljamain Sterling
- Marina Rodriguez vs. Iasmin Lucindo
- César Almeida vs. Ihor Potieria
- Chris Curtis vs. Kevin Holland
- José Aldo vs. Mario Bautista
- Carla Esparza vs. Tecia Pennington
