It was supposed to be a different Mike in there with Jake Paul, but it ended up being Mike Perry on Saturday night in Tampa, FL.
After six rounds that were tough to watch if you’re a Perry fan the fight was waved off after he was dropped for the third time in the fight. When the ref asked him to walk to his corner Perry stumbled and the fight was stopped.
Perry showed a ridiculous amount of toughness that has become a part of his brand and fight lore. In the first round Perry was dominated as he had all kinds of trouble getting close enough to land any shots.
In the second round Perry began to land on Paul. Plenty of good shots, but nothing that caused Paul trouble.
The rest of the fight felt like it was a showcase in toughness from Perry, but after getting dropped for a third time and seeing all of the damage he took, the referee stopped the fight.
For Paul this marks his fourth straight victory after losing to Tommy Fury in early 2023. He’s earned victories over Nate Diaz, Andre August, Ryan Bourland and now Perry.
In his post-fight interview Paul confirmed that his fight with Mike Tyson is official and will take place on Nov. 15 and broadcast on Netflix.
Official Result: Jake Paul def. Mike Perry via R6 TKO, 1:12
