To kick off the UFC on ESPN 60 main card, a pair of exciting featherweights, relatively new to the UFC, answered the call. Jeong-Yeong Lee, the winner of Road to UFC in 2022, had a pair of wins with the promotion, most recently defeating Blake Bilder by unanimous decision in February took on Hyder Amil.
Hyder Amil entered the fight at 9-0 having won his promotional debut back in February when he TKO’d Ferine Garcia in the second round. It was a fight that was guaranteed to be violent as it was featured on Dana White’s “If you don’t know, now you know”.
The fight started with Hyder immediately throwing a body kick that Lee blocked. Lee threw a punch and was quickly countered by Amil before the two clinched into the cage. As the two men moved back into space and exchanged, Lee took multiple punches on the chin. Jeong-Yeong still seemed composed, or stunned, but returned with some serious counter punches in response. Amil turned up the aggression, wailing lefts and rights at Lee’s face. Hyder just continued to pour it on, throwing a 30-some-odd punch combination and absolutely melted Lee against the cage. By the time the ref stepped in Lee had gone limp and came back multiple times. And Amil had never stopped swinging.
Hyder Amil landed 38 significant strikes during the duration of the fight, which was just over a minute.
Official Result: Hyder Amil def. Jeong-Yeong Lee by TKO, Round 1, 1:05
