Former UFC bantamweight champion Aljamain Sterling has his next fight in the featherweight division set.
“The Funkmaster” Sterling (24-4) is set to face former M-1 champ Movsar Evloev (18-0) at UFC 307 on October 5, 2024.
Though not officially announced by the promotion, the card has been heavily rumored for Salt Lake City, Utah for some time now.
Aljamain Sterling himself confirmed the date on social media, following an initial report by MMA Junkie on Friday.
“Aljo” picked up a win over Calvin Kattar at UFC 300, in his debut in the UFC’s 145lb weight class. One fight prior, he’d been finished by Sean O’Malley, using his bantamweight title in the process. In his bantamweight run, Sterling holds wins over Henry Cejudo, Petr Yan (twice), Cory Sandhagen, T.J. Dillashaw, Pedro Munhoz and others.
Movsar Evloev remains perfect in his professional career, with many anticipating a title shot in his future. The knock on the Russian has been his lack of finishing ability, with all of his fights under the UFC banner going the distance. Most recently, he defeated Arnold Allen at UFC 297 in Toronto.
UFC 307 on October 5, 2024 currently has no other fights reported, though it is a potential landing spot for Raquel Pennington vs. Juliana Pena, per a report by SportsNet.
