UFC APEX – UFC middleweight Brad Tavares poked fun at teammate Dan Ige for taking the very short notice fight against Diego Lopes at UFC 303.
Tavares spoke on Ige’s fight when talking about wanting a fight on UFC 306 which takes place at The Sphere in Las Vegas. UFC CEO Dana White has said he’s spent over $16 million on preparations and is still making adding things to the event.
“He got that three hour, four hour, short notice and he’ll most likely get to fight on that card because of that,” Tavares told reports at his media day scrum on Thursday.
Then it got fun.
“Bringing up Dan. Very disappointed in him for taking that four-hour fight. Very selfish of him. We were supposed to be in this together,” Tavares said with a big smile.
“Nah I’m just kidding.”
Ige was supposed to fight on this UFC Vegas 94 card this Saturday night, but took the opportunity to fight Lopes at UFC 303.
“I got my fight, and Dan got his, and he told me ‘hey we’re going to be on the same card again’. I was stoked,” he said.
“It’s always good to suffer with a brother going through like the fight week and to be able to do everything together.”
