Amanda Lemos Hoping Win Over Jandiroba Earns Title Shot

UFC APEX – UFC strawweight Amanda Lemos comes into her third UFC main event against Virna Jandiroba at the UFC APEX this Saturday night at UFC Vegas 94.

“Strong fighter, striker, strong fighter on the ground as well,” Lemos said of her opponent through a translator on Thursday.

“Brazilian, tough fighter, we’re going to go and measure strengths and on Saturday try to see who’s going to get another shot at the title.”

Lemos (14-3-1) brings her #3 ranking into the fight, taking on the #5 Jandiroba, hoping for another shot at the Weili Zhang’s title. An impressive finish would go a long way to making that rematch happen.

“I don’t know if Saturday’s win is going to get me a shot at the title. I don’t know what kind of win I need to have. All I need to do is perform and get a convincing win to show people I deserve another try,” she said.

“Get a win and to show people I deserve an opportunity to fight for the title again.”

Jandiroba has not fought for a title at the UFC level. She is a former Invicta FC champion, but it’s not the same thing as fighting for a UFC title.

“I don’t know about the experience I focus on what I do. My work. I focus on what I do in the gym,” said Lemos.

“That’s what gives me the confidence to say I’m going to win.”
