Strawweight action has joined Riyadh Season Noche UFC, the card formerly (or perhaps concurrently) known as UFC 306.
The fight will see Mexico’s Yazmin Jauregui (11-1) face off with Brazilian Ketlen Souza (14-4) at the MSG Sphere in Las Vegas, Nevada on September 14, 2024. News of the match-up was first reported by ESPN Deportes. Both fighters have since confirmed the booking via social media.
Jauregui, 25, is 3-1 across four UFC fights to date. Last time out, she returned to the win column care of a decision victory against Sam Hughes. Prior to that, she suffered her first career defeat at the hands of Denise Gomes at UFC 290.
The Mexican strawweight arrived in the UFC in 2022, after cutting her teeth in Combate Global.
Brazil’s Souza, 28, is a former Invicta FC flyweight champ who dropped to 115lbs in her last fight, where she earned a unanimous decision over Marnic Mann. Her debut fight with the promotion, at 125lbs, saw her defeated by Karine Silva, forced to tap to a kneebar.
Outside of her UFC run, Souza faced solid competition in the likes of Ariane Carnelossi (now also with the promotion) and Kristina “War Horse” Williams.
Neither Jauregui nor Souza are currently ranked at 115lbs.
Riyadh Season Noche UFC, a.k.a. UFC 306, is without a main event having been announced or reported. Women’s flyweight champ Alexa Grasso, currently seen coaching on The Ultimate Fighter 32, being involved feels likely. Three fights have been reported for the card thus far, those being:
- Michel Pereira vs. Anthony Hernandez
- Yazmin Jauregui vs. Ketlen Souza
- Édgar Cháirez vs. Kevin Borjas
