Las Vegas — Canadian middleweight Marc-Andre Barriault is returning to action at UFC 303, looking to bounce back from a loss at UFC 297 against Chris Curtis.
That setback, against Chris Curtis, perhaps stung a little more since it took place in Toronto, but as Barriault explained on Wednesday, “if there’s something that I’ve learned throughout my career, it’s that I don’t let a result define myself.”
“I thought that I’d done enough to win the fight, even if the fight was very close,” Barriault told media outlets including Cageside Press. “But still, move on, go back to the drawing board, work with my team, and just wait for the next call. And here I am.”
Barriault has been paired up with Joe Pyfer at UFC 303, a 2022 Contender Series winner who was unquestionably the star of the season. It’s a match-up the “Power Bar” has been expecting for a while.
“I knew at one point I was looking at him, since the Contender Series. He did great on the Contender Series, he did great in his first three fights. He had a big test, just like me, top 15 guy his last fight. So at one point I was like okay, maybe we’re going to cross paths, and yeah. It’s going to happen this Saturday.”
At the end of the day, Barriault expects to let his actions do the talking when UFC 303 arrives on Saturday.
“I think we both have the style to bring the action, so for sure we’re going to bring all the eyes on the fight. And I’m just ready to let the Power Bar talk, and be myself.”
