A couple of key UFC fights in the month of July underwent shake-ups on Tuesday, and alongside Tracy Cortez stepping up against Rose Namajunas a week earlier, Chepe Mariscal will now face Dan Ige on July 20, 2024.
Mariscal (16-6) will be stepping in for Joanderson Brito on the Fight Night card, set for the UFC Apex in Las Vegas, NV. MMA Junkie was first to report news of the booking.
UFC officials have yet to confirm the new pairing; Brazil’s Brito was previously reported as being out of the fight due to a leg injury. Regardless, it’s a huge opportunity for Mariscal, who has won his first three fights under the UFC banner, and is coming off a victory over French star Morgan Charriere.
Jose “Chepe” Mariscal competed for the likes of LFA, CFFC, and Combate Global before arriving in the UFC last year.
Hawaii’s Dan Ige (18-7) is 3-1 across his last four fights, and is coming off a Performance of the Night-winning knockout of Andre “Touchy” Fili at UFC Vegas 86 in February.
The UFC Vegas 91 card on July 20 currently breaks down as follows:
