Sharaputdin Magomedov
‘Sharabullet’ Magomedov is the latest hyped up Dagestani to enter the UFC but he stands out from the others in a few key ways. First, he has one eye. Second, he is a flashy taekwondo-style kickboxer, not the usual samboist. Now at 2-0 in the UFC and 13-0 overall, the thirty year old is stepping up to a new level of competition.
The tier of fighter Shara should fight next are ones like Gerald “GM3” Meerschaert, Edmen Shahbazyan, and Jacob Malkoun; talented fighters but too limited to make a run at the rankings at this point. GM3, aka Gerald Meerschaert, has long been used for testing these sort of prospects, he is perhaps the definition of a gatekeeper right now, so that makes most sense to test Magomedov before he potentially reaches the grapplers in the middleweight rankings.
