Alexander ‘Drago’ Volkov upset the odds, and friend-turned-foe Sergei Pavlovich, by winning decisively in Saturday’s UFC Saudi Arabia co-main event with a display of expert distance management and footwork. He will now leapfrog #3 Pavlovich in the rankings, putting him in line for a title shot soon.

Unfortunately, there is a logjam at heavyweight because Jon Jones has not defended his belt in over a year since winning it, and does not appear ready to do so anytime soon. Tom Aspinall defends his interim title against Curtis Blaydes next month, so maybe Volkov, who has lost to both men will rematch the winner of that fight. Or perhaps the loser, as the winner fights for the undisputed championship against Jones or Stipe Miocic. Ciryl Gane is also an option.
