Conor McGregor was on hand at the 3Arena in his native Dublin, Ireland on Saturday, where teammate Sinead Kavanagh was in action.
Following SBG Ireland’s Kavanagh being submitted by three-time Bellator women’s featherweight title challenger Arelene Blencowe, McGregor was given mic time, where he was asked by Dan Hardy to look back at his accomplishments after promising that the Irish were “here to take over” so many years ago.
McGregor, however, was not in a retrospective mood, instead focusing on his upcoming fight with Michael Chandler, a new date for which has yet to be announced.
“I’m still here rocking away. Had a little lapse in concentration, and I had to reschedule the bout so I’m a little upset about that,” stated McGregor, much to the delight of the Irish crowd. “But it’s keeping my dialed in, it’s keeping me focused.”
Adding that “the job is not done,” McGregor noted that “that’s not bad for someone like me. I’m onwards towards the new date, and take my lessons learned. It was a lapse in concentration. If I was any one of these other little bums that can’t move, that have no footwork, that don’t rely on their skills, then I would be okay. And I’ve done it before, I’ve made the walk a multitude of times under those circumstances, and given these bums an advantage over me that they don’t even deserve.”
“So now I’m dialing it in, I’m getting this training camp correct, I’m walking in there 100% Conor McGregor. Injury free, perfection coming in with me.”
McGregor recently revealed that a broken toe forced him out of the UFC 303 main event opposite Michael Chandler. Alex Pereira vs. Jiri Prochazka has since been announced as that card’s new headliner. Conor McGregor, meanwhile, has not fought since breaking his leg in a 2021 rubber match in his trilogy with Dustin Poirier.
