While he waits to box Mike Tyson later this year, Jake Paul will take on Mike Perry on July 20 in Tampa, Florida.

Jake Paul’s Most Valuable Promotions announced on Tuesday morning that “The Problem Child” will be fighting on the weekend of July 20 after all as he takes on BareKnuckle Fighting Championships star Mike Perry in a boxing match in Tampa, Florida. The two will fight in an eight round cruiserweight bout. The event will be aired on DAZN.
Paul was originally scheduled to fight on July 20 against former heavyweight champion Mike Tyson before an illness to Tyson out of the bout. The fight was set to headline the first live streamed combat sports event for streaming juggernaut Netflix. Following the withdrawal of Tyson, the streamer announced that the bout between the two would be rescheduled for November 15.
Paul, 27, enters the fight on a three fight win-streak over Nate Diaz, Andre August, and Ryan Borland. The social media star who commands millions of followers across multiple platforms is also set to work with the boxers looking to qualify for the Team USA boxing team ahead of the 2024 summer Olympics. “The Problem Child” holds a 9-1 record with six knockouts.
Mike Perry, 32, has emerged one of the most unlikely stars in combat sports. After being released from the UFC in 2021 he found himself as the centerpiece of BareKnuckle Fighting Championship where he has recorded victories over former UFC champions Luke Rockhold and Eddie Alvarez as well as former Bellator star and current UFC contender Michael “Venom” Page. Perry also has a victory in the short-lived Triad Combat promotion and most recently defeated former UFC title challenger Thiago Alves in June.
Current WBA, IBF, WBO, and IBO featherweight champion Amanda Serrano (46-2-1) is also set to compete on the card following the postponement of the Netflix event. Serrano will be facing Stevie Morgan (14-1) in a super lightweight bout. Serrano was set to rematch Irish sensation Katie Taylor as the co-headliner of the Paul vs Tyson event. It had been announced already that the fight between Serrano and Taylor was also rescheduled to take place on November 15. Paul represents Serrano as part of Most Valuable Promotions.
It is unknown if the outcome of either bout would affect either Paul or Serrano from participating in the rescheduled event in November, though it should obviously be noted that any potential injury in July or in their subsequent training camp could affect their ability to make the date. It is also unknown if this affects their ability to compete in MMA later this year as both fighters are currently signed to the PFL where there have been discussions to potentially see them fight in the cage later this year.
