Bellator MMA’s return to London, England will bring a middleweight title fight with it, featuring a local talent once again challenging for gold.
On Tuesday, promotion officials announced that Johnny Eblen (15-0) will again defend his title against Fabian Edwards (13-3), topping Bellator London on September 14, 2024. The event will take place at the OVO Arena Wembley in London, England with tickets going on sale this Thursday.
The pair first met last September, with Eblen knocking out the British challenger in the third round. Since then, the champ went on to face Impa Kasanganay, the 2023 PFL light heavyweight champ, in a non-title middleweight bout at the PFL vs. Bellator Champions card this past February. Eblen won a highly competitive contest via split decision.
As for Edwards, he bounced back with a win over Aaron Jeffery in March to earn his second shot at gold. Brother of UFC welterweight champ Leon Edwards, it has long been Fabian’s goal to score a major title alongside his sibling.
Edwards holds notable wins over Gegard Mousasi and Lyoto Machida, among others. He’s 4-1 in his last five fights, with the lone defeat coming at the hands of Eblen in their first encounter.
No other fights were announced for the Bellator London card on September 14, 2024 in Tuesday’s announcement.
