How Tomar will fare in the UFC:

Tomar is a product out of India which is a market the UFC is trying to go after. She has good experience fighting for ONE Championship four times. Of the four fights Tomar only went 1-3. To her benefit she only lost to credible opponents but was losing every time she had a bump up in competition. Since her run in ONE Tomar has went 4-0 and has wins over at least two decent opponents.

It was rough trying to highlight anything in a positive way while watching Tomar. I can say she’s strong and can throw a lot of volume. Strength can only mean so much when you’re an undersized fighter. Tomar isn’t a strawweight as she should only be fighting at atomweight. The volume is cool but when it’s when she’s coming forward she’s sloppy. There isn’t an ounce of technique in her striking. On the outside, she’s low volume, flat-footed, and slow.

She has no wrestling, no jiu-jitsu, no takedown defense, and has nothing off her back. Tomar can be a threat on top with rapid ground and pound but that’s all volume and nothing is sought out. Her submission defense is terrible and grappling defense in general is poor. She’s been getting out grappled by fighters who are primarily strikers. Overall, I’d be surprised if Tomar got a win in the UFC. She’s undersized, already 30, and has too many holes in her game.

How she matches up with Amanda:

Amanda isn’t great and a lot of her record is padded but this would be her worst loss by a mile. Amanda should just be able to find the takedowns and her BJJ is far superior. On the feet Tomar is at least fighting someone her size but Amanda will match her output and make it competitive. Amanda has a clear path to victory but should really win this fight anywhere it goes.
