Canada’s Kyle Nelson has landed a monster of an opponent for a UFC Fight Night on September 7, 2024.
Nelson (16-5-1) will face Calvin Kattar (23-8) in a three-round featherweight affair at the event, which does not have a venue, location, or broadcast plan officially announced.
News of the booking was first reported by MMA Junkie, with Nelson subsequently confirming the match-up. “Making my way to the top ten!” Canada’s Kyle “The Monster” Nelson exclaimed.
Huntsville, Ontario’s Nelson has won three straight, most recently finishing Bill Algeo inside of a round at UFC Atlantic City. Nelson is undefeated in his last four fights, posting a 3-0-1 record including wins over Algeo, Fernando Padilla, and Blake Bilder, alongside a draw against Doo-Ho Choi.
He gets a step up against “New England Cartel” member Calvin Katter, who despite being on a three-fight skid remains a tough out in the 145lb division. Kattar has shared the cage with the likes of Max Holloway, Aljamain Sterling, and Josh Emmett, among others, and holds wins over Andre Fili, Shane Burgos, Giga Chikadze, and Ricardo Lamas to name a few.
Kattar’s last fight saw him welcome ex-bantamweight champ Sterling to the 145lb division, where “The Funkmaster” picked up a unanimous decision win.
No other fights have been reported for the UFC’s September 7, 2024 event.
