Dominick Reyes Says He Can Get To The Top Starting With Jacoby

Louisville – UFC light heavyweight Dominick Reyes has a different mindset as he comes into his bout against Dustin Jacoby at UFC Louisville on Saturday night.

“It’s really nice to be back. It’s great to be at the media day,” Reyes told reporters on Wednesday.

“Seeing the fans in the street. It’s been a good week so far. Another great day to be great.”

Reyes (12-4) told Fullsend MMA that he had suffered from Thrombosis which is clotting in a part of the circulatory system. The ailment had Reyes on edge given that it may have been life threatening at that point. Now he returns after a long layoff.

Jacoby had said earlier in the day that he wasn’t sure which Reyes would show up on Saturday night.

“I’m Dom now. I understand where he’s coming from. Definitely hard to prepare for me because my last four fight I’ve come out a completely different fighter. Yeah this fight I’m going to come out a completely different fighter again so we’ll see what happens,” Reyes said with a chuckle.

He may be coming off a long layoff and on a 4-fight losing streak, but Reyes feels that in the 205 division putting together a couple of good fights can get you back to the top.

“The UFC’s light heavyweight division is very performance-based. I have the pedigree to get me back to the top. Pretty much anyone in the division has the opportunity (if they) put a couple together,” he said.

“But it’s one of the hardest divisions in terms of one punch and it’s over. I’m right back to it. I’m right back to that style of fighter.”
