Newark – UFC middleweight Michal Oleksiejczuk isn’t surprised that Kevin Holland took a bout against him at UFC 302 this Saturday night.
“Holland is a very brave fighter. He’s crazy fighter, and he want fight with everybody,” Oleksiejczuk told reporters including Cageside Press on Wednesday.
Oleksiejczuk (19-7) knows Holland has had some issues with grappling at 185 pounds. With most middleweights physically stronger than him it would make sense if Oleksiejczuk wanted to test that.
“I want (to fight standing), but if Kevin want (to) fight (on) the ground I am ready for this,” he said.
A win over a big name such as Holland could help him get a ranked opponent, Holland is currently ranked at welterweight but not 185, and it’s a goal for him.
“If I will win with Kevin, (a) very famous fighter, and this is very big opportunity for me,” said Oleksiejczuk.
Ultimately next for Oleksiejczuk, with a victory at UFC 302, would be a fight with a ranked opponent. He may even find himself with a number next to his name.
“I want fight with the best fighters in this division, and I want (to) be in the top 15 ranking,” he said.
