UFC top ten 115lbs fighters Mackenzie Dern and Lupita Godinez will meet on the main card of UFC Abu Dhabi on August 3, 2024.
News of the matchup was first announced on Wednesday by UFC President Dana White via an Instagram post.
#7 ranked strawweight, Mackenzie Dern (13-5) will look to get back in the win column and snap her two-fight losing skid on August 3. Dern’s last time out was opposite Amanda Lemos back in February, when she lost a unanimous decision at UFC 298.
Dern has struggled lately, having dropped four of her last six fights dating back to late 2021. Her two wins in that time period have been a split decision against Tecia Pennington and most recently, a unanimous decision, FOTN winning, victory against Angela Hill in May of last year.
Lupita Godinez (12-4), the #10 ranked strawweight, has won four of her last six fights dating back to August of 2022.
Godinez had her 4-fight win streak ended via unanimous decision in her last outing at the hands of Virna Jandiroba nearly two months ago. The impressive streak included decision victories over Cynthia Calvillo, Emily Ducote, and Tabatha Ricci. As well as a second-round submission victory over Elise Reed.
