Edson Barboza Wants A Shot At Holloway’s BMF Title

UFC APEX – UFC featherweight Edson Barboza has a fight in front of him as he takes on Lerone Murphy at UFC Vegas 92 on Saturday night, but he has another fight he’d like to get.

“(I’m) the one guy to deserve to fight BMF title, it’s me. Who’s had a better highlight knockout in UFC than me,” Barboza told reporters on Wednesday.

“Bro I love Max Holloway. He’s one of my favorite fight(ers) ever. I love to watch him. Very nice guy, very family guy, imagine a fight me against him. With BMF belt. It’s going to be very very good for me, for him, for the company. I have 30 fights. I think I deserve that.”

Barboza (24-11) faces Murphy at the UFC APEX in Las Vegas. Barboza has been in the UFC since 2010 where he debuted at UFC 123. Even with all of that time in the promotion he’s still not very picky when it comes to opponents.

“To be honest I don’t like picking much. I believe some people need to call some names. I think I don’t need (to) man. I show for you guys in 30 fights I don’t need to pick a name. That’s what I think,” Barboza said.

Barboza is still doing it at a high-level at 38-years-old just like UFC lightweight Jim Miller who just fought at UFC 300 at 40-years-old.

“He’s still fighting a high-level! (He fought) UFC 300 against Bob Green. Great fight, Bob Green catch him with a couple shots, but great fight. Keep going man I think he (needs to) fight more,” he said.

“Today I think most kids don’t fight (to) win. The most important on the kids mind is not (to) lose. Makes (for a) boring fight. You see Jim Miller. He keep going, go hard, real fight. Most people like it.”
