And the winner of the Paddy Pimblett sweepstakes is… Bobby Green!
After months of callouts from a host of fighters and countless speculation, UFC President and CEO Dana White announced on Thursday that Pimblett would face Green at UFC 304 in Manchester this July. The event takes place at the Co-Op Arena in Manchester, England on July 27, 2024 with Leon Edwards vs. Belal Muhammad headlining.
Pimblett (21-3), 29, has become a bonafide star in the UFC despite not currently being ranked in the lightweight division’s top 15. He’s undefeated in the company since arriving from Cage Warriors in 2021, putting together a five-fight win streak under the UFC banner and having won seven straight overall.
Most recently, Paddy “The Baddy” earned a unanimous decision win over Tony Ferguson at UFC 296 in December. Pimblett has become known for feuding with numerous fighters including current featherweight champ Ilia Topuria, leading to an astronomical number of callouts from his fellow lightweights (and the odd fighter from other weight classes).
As for Green (32-15-1, 1NC), he’s coming off a big win over Jim Miller at UFC 300. “King” Green is 3-1 across his last four with that lone loss coming to Jalin Turner. Sitting ranked at #15, Green had previously addressed fighting Pimblett in Manchester, after Paddy had mentioned a fight with the longtime vet.
With the addition of Pimblett vs. Green, the UFC 304 fight card as reported to date breaks down as follows:
- Leon Edwards (c) vs. Belal Muhammad – for the UFC welterweight championship
- Tom Aspinall (ic) vs Curtis Blaydes – for the UFC interim heavyweight championship
- Bobby Green vs Paddy Pimblett
- Nathaniel Wood vs. Daniel Pineda
- Arnold Allen vs. Giga Chikadze
- Muhammad Mokaev vs. Manel Kape
- Molly McCann vs. Bruna Brasil
- Shauna Bannon vs. Ravena Oliveira
