A week out from UFC 301 in Brazil, the UFC stayed on the road, heading to Missouri for UFC St. Louis, topped by heavyweights Derrick Lewis and Rodrigo Nascimento.
Yet while Lewis led the way at UFC St. Louis, it was Joaquin Buckley who had been the story surrounding the card heading in. Starting back at UFC 300, “Newmansa” had campaigned for a main event slot, or even just a spot, on what was for him a hometown show. And while Dana White didn’t acquiesce to that headlining request, Buckley did land in the co-main event opposite Nursulton Ruziboev.

No fighters missed weight on Friday, but Jared Gooden was unable to weigh in due to a medical issue. His bout with Kevin Jousset has been cancelled as a result.
