UFC APEX – UFC light heavyweight Ryan Spann is no longer focused on his controversial loss to Anthony Smith as he gets set to face Bogdan Guskov at UFC Vegas 91 on Saturday night.
“It sucks because when you think about financially and all that stuff. The money I should have gotten versus the money I actually got and all that,” Spann told reporters on Wednesday.
“Other than that we moved forward though. (It) was however long now so it was no point in looking back. We just keep on to the next phase.”
Spann (21-9) took 8 months to return to action following that split-decision loss. The light heavyweight says it was all his choice.
“Yeah that was me. Shortly after that fight I called. I was like I wanted to forgo any other offers that I had for the end of the year. We wanted to take time like me and my coach. We thought it’d be best for me to be able to slow myself down. There was things that I needed to work on. You don’t really get a chance to do those things when you’re in a camp,” he said.
At UFC Vegas 91 he gets Guskov who, funny enough looks a lot like Anthony Smith, but is coming off a TKO victory.
“I just want to go out there and let God use me. We’re going to see what you see,” Spann said.
“But I feel like I’m going to be very excited about the result.”
