Las Vegas – UFC bantamweight Deiveson Figueiredo wasn’t sure what to make of his opponents comments on who called who out, but he’s got a challenge ahead of him when he faces Cody Garbrandt at UFC 300 on Saturday night.
“I don’t know what to make of that (Garbrandt saying he called him out and Figueiredo doesn’t want this fight),” Figueiredo told reporters including Cageside Press through a translator on Wednesday.
“I don’t know what to say. Not much to say except for everybody knows that I will fight anyone. The organization’s seen that I’ll fight anybody in this company. I’m just ready to fight on Saturday because winning on Saturday means I can have the greatest opportunity of my life right now.”
Figueiredo (22-3-1) and Garbrandt will kick off the entire UFC 300 card which is unheard of given as both have held a world title before.
“I was very happy because Dana said ‘I want a packed house from the start’. You can bet Cody being an aggressive guy, a guy who likes a heated fight, and I’m going to bring that fight to him,” he said.
“So that’s the fight that we’re getting. Packed house.”
With two fighters who look for violent finishes it’s assumed that this fight is unlikely to see the judges.
“I don’t think this fight’s going to the end. Look at my style, look at his style, I trained so hard on my striking for this. I hope he doesn’t move around to try to avoid that,” said Figueiredo.
“I want him to stand and strike with me.”
