Las Vegas, NV — Josh Silveira is part of a contingent of American Top Team fighters in Las Vegas this week, split between the PFL 2 and UFC 300 cards.
“It’s one of those things, in the gym, you look left, Kayla Harrison, you look right, Arman [Tsarukyan]. You look over there, you’ve got Shoeface [Antonio Carlos Junior],” noted Silveira (12-2), speaking to Cageside Press in an exclusive interview this week. Jay Jay Wilson, Renato Moicano and others are also in town. “Everywhere you look in the gym. You sense that different vibration when a fighter has fights coming up. It feels good to fight alongside my teammates.”
Later, Silveira noted “we’re always looking for a fight, we’re always ready to replace a spot, we’re always on the go. And I think that’s what makes the team great,” adding that “ATT, we’re like the savior of cards. I’ve seen it happen many times. I’m not saying all the cards, but if ATT disappeared out of the blue right now, I think organizations would have a problem.”
Silveira heads into a fight against Sadibou Sy this Friday at PFL 2, with Sy moving up from the welterweight division. How does Josh Silveira, a 2023 light heavyweight finalist, take him out? “Josh takes out Sadibou Sy- lot of pressure. Pressure, pressure, pressure. Don’t play that tic-tac-toe game with him. I’m a grappler, I’m a wrestler. Take him down, put him in a weird spot and get the submission, for sure.”
