The LFA welterweight championship was on the line on Saturday in the main event of LFA 179 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
The card’s headliner had champ Geraldo Neto looking to defend his belt against Vanilto Antunes, who boasted 13 KO/TKO finishes among his 15 professional wins. Neto, a pro since 2011, was looking to earn his seventh straight win and knock on the door of the big leagues.
A planned women’s bantamweight bout expected to take place on the preliminary card on Saturday was cancelled when both fighters missed weight. That weigh-in debacle saw Nicoly Pedroza hit the scales at 138.2 pounds, while Tayná Lamounier appeared to forget what weight class she was competing in and still managed to miss weight one division up, coming in at 146.4 pounds – a full 10.4 pounds over the bantamweight limit.
