“Thug” Rose Namajunas is set to give the women’s flyweight division another go this Saturday, as she takes on Amanda Ribas in the main event of UFC Vegas 89.
Namajunas, a former strawweight champ, had made her debut at 125lbs back in September, coming up short against Manon Fiorot. The popular Ultimate Fighter alum then took some time to heal off, but has said she never had any doubts about returning to action, drawing the always upbeat Ribas in her return.
In an interesting twist to the Namajunas story, she remains ranked #8 overall in the women’s pound-for-pound rankings, but is not ranked in either the strawweight, or flyweight, divisions. Making Saturday a big night for “Thug” Rose to try and boost herself into the top 10, or at least top 15, opposite Ribas.
Weigh-ins for UFC Vegas 89 get underway at 12PM ET, 9AM PT on Friday. Results can be found below.
There were no misses at the scale on Friday, with all fighters successfully making weight.
