The UFC’s return to Rio de Janeiro this May, UFC 301, continues to grow, with William Gomis vs. Jean Silva the latest addition to the card.
Gomis vs. Silva was announced by promotion officials on social media on Friday. The event takes place on May 4, 2024 at the Jeunesse Arena in Rio.
A flyweight title fight between champ Alexandre Pantoja and Australian contender Steve Erceg was also announced Friday.
Come May, William Gomis (13-2) be looking for his fourth straight victory inside the octagon. The French featherweight most recently finished Yanis Ghemmouri with a body kick in September, fighting at home in Paris. This time, he’ll be headed into enemy territory to face Brazilian Silva in his own back yard.
Jean Silva (12-2) is a 2023 Contender Series winner who saw his hand raised over Westin Wilson in Silva’s promotional debut back in January. He hasn’t lost a fight since 2018, piling up nine straight wins.
