Petr Yan Declares ‘Hunting Season’ Open

Miami, FL – After scoring a big victory in the cage and with the fans former UFC bantamweight champion Petr Yan is looking to open ‘rematch season’ as he looks to get back to a title fight.

“Whoever UFC will give me. I want to beat these guys,” Yan told reporters including Cageside Press through a translator at his post-fight scrum.

“(I will) prepare more this time professionally than I did before.”

Yan (17-5) came into the fight with Song Yadong at UFC 299 on a three-fight losing streak and badly needing a victory.

“I wasn’t thinking about (what happens had I lost). I was only thinking about the win, and thank God I did it,” he said.

Now with the win secured Yan looks ahead to other matchups, but he won’t be the one calling people out. The former 135 king expects to be called out. One possible opponent may come from the UFC 300 bout between former champions Cody Garbrandt and Deiveson Figueiredo.

“Cody’s been on my radar for a while. Before I was calling him out, but he never accepted it. Right now I’m not focused on him,” Yan said.

“When Figueiredo moved up to the division I called him out too so let’s see what happens. Right now they should line up to fight me. I shouldn’t be calling (them out).”

One more message from the former champion put the entire division on notice.

“Hunting season (is) open.”
