Brazil’s Vitor Petrino is an unbeaten light heavyweight talent at 10-0, and it’s hard to find any negatives in the start to his UFC career thus far.
Ahead of his fight with Tyson Pedro at UFC Vegas 87, Petrino admitted that “I think it’s been a very productive year. We’ve been able to submit, we’ve been able to knock out, we’ve been able to get Fight of the Night.”
Petrino has defeated Anton Turkalj, Marcin Prachnio, and Modestas Bukauskas, earning Fight of the Night for his debut against Turkalj, and Performance of the Night after KO’ing Bukauskas in his last outing.
“We’ve bene able to show our work, and I think we’re going to be able to show the world what we came here for,” he added, speaking during the event’s media day.
With so much success comes the temptation to pull plans forward, perhaps to fast track. Petrino, however, described himself as a fighter living the dream and enjoying the moment.
“My dream in the sport was always being in the UFC, and I’m living that dream. I’m enjoying the moment, I’m enjoying the trips, I’m enjoying meeting the different people that I meet all the time. So that was the dream and right now, I earned that dream and I made it a reality. So I’m enjoying it as much as possible.”
As it turns out, opponent Pedro is someone Vitor Petrino was quite familiar with prior to arriving in the UFC.
“Tyson Pedro is an experienced guy, a guy I used to watch before I came into the UFC. A guy that brings it. I like the style, he goes for it,” said Petrino. “And I think a guy that also does a good job on the ground as well. I think this is good matchmaking, and I think it has all the potential to be Fight of the Night.”
