This Saturday’s UFC Vegas 87 has been hit with a couple of last minute changes.
AJ Cunningham (11-3) jumps on board to replace Joel Alvarez against L’udovit Klein (20-4-1) in lightweight action on the Fight Night event’s preliminary card, while Sweden’s Bernardo Sopai (11-2) fills in for Yanis Ghemmouri opposite Vinicius Oliveira (19-3).
MMA Fighting was first to report Sopai joining the card, while MMA Mania broke the news of Cunningham stepping in.
Sopai had been scheduled to face Ricardo Monteiro at an AllStars Fight Night event on March 9, but now steps into a short-notice opportunity a week earlier. He’s riding a three-fight win streak, with all three victories coming inside the distance.
As for Cunningham, he fell to Steven Nguyen last September on Dana White’s Contender Series. He bounced back in his next fight, however, securing a TKO finish against Justice Lamparez in December.
