Mexico City – UFC featherweight Yair Rodriguez faces Brian Ortega at UFC Mexico City on Saturday night, but he did have thoughts on the new champion in his division.
“I would love to f*ck him up. I don’t want to fight him. I want to f*ck him up. There’s a f*cking big difference on that,” Rodriguez told reporters on Wednesday.
“Just to make that clear. And anywhere I f*cking see him I’ll f*ck him up.”
Rodriguez was very clear on how he feels about new UFC featherweight champion Ilia Topuria who took the title from Alexander Volkanovski at UFC 298.
“F*ck this b*tch. I don’t f*cking like him,” Rodriguez said.
The stakes feel pretty high in the fight with Ortega, but Rodriguez made it clear that he should get the title shot with a win in Mexico City. Even if the title fight is in Topuria’s home of Spain.
“I think that’s what’s next for us. Any of us, whoever wins, the title is next,” he said.
“F*ck yeah I’ll fight him in his backyard if he wants.”
First he has to get past Ortega who he fought for almost a full round in 2022 before an injury ended the fight early. Rodriguez earned a win on that night.
“I think we both are prepared for each other. He kind of knows what I’m bringing to the table. His grappling I kind of have a feeling of it, his grip and everything, and the game plans are there,” he said.
“It’s going to be really interesting. It’s going to be a lot of who can pull off the game plan better.”
