Anaheim, CA — Following this past Saturday’s UFC 298 in Anaheim, Miranda Maverick believes she has done enough to earn a number next to her name.
A unanimous decision win over Andrea “KGB” Lee gave Maverick (13-5) her fourth win in five fights, and second straight. Given Lee came into the fight ranked #15, Maverick believes she’ll be in the rankings when they update this week.
“I think I’ve cemented my place in the top 15, and I don’t plan on leaving,” Maverick told media outlets including Cageside Press following the fight.
Maverick has flirted with the rankings before, and she’s hoping to stay busy and get a quick turnaround following Saturday’s win. “May. Let’s get me back in there fast,” she said of a timeframe for her return.
The former Invicta FC athlete noted that, whether she’s on the road or at home, she’s always in training. “I’m ready to get back in there any time. I stay ready, I stay lean, and I never stop sparring, never stop training whether I’m at home visiting or not. So I’m ready to get in there fast. I do not like having this two fights a year thing, I want three, I want four, I want five. And a lot of people don’t know I’m not the one who makes those decisions. But I’ll stay ready so I can have as many fights as possible this year.”
She’s aiming for ranked opposition moving forward, but Miranda Maverick admitted that if it came down to it, she’d take a quick return over a ranked opponent. Still, the 26-year old wants to focus on the rankings.
“Obviously I’d like someone in the top 15 that’s open, and that’s always hard to figure out. Everybody’s getting matched up, but I’m ready to go soon. Anybody that we can get in there in that top 15 to 10 area, I’m ready to go.”
