First, it was Carlos Ulberg getting hurt. Now, it’s his originally scheduled opponent Dominick Reyes falling by the wayside, leaving their UFC Atlantic City date in need of a new opponent.
That it has found, as Alonzo Menifield is stepping into the light heavyweight fight on March 30, 2024. News of the match-up was announced by promotion officials on Tuesday.
The reason behind Reyes’ withdrawal from the bout has not been disclosed.
Reyes and Ulberg were initially booked as part of this past weekend’s UFC 297 in Toronto, only for Ulberg to withdraw. The promotion opted to keep the pairing together, moving them to the Atlantic City card. The third time isn’t the charm in this case, with Ulberg instead facing Menifield.
Carlos Ulberg (9-1) has won his last five fights, with the last four ending inside the distance. He’s a teammate of Israel Adesanya at New Zealand’s City Kickboxing.
Alonzo Menifield (15-3-1) is unbeaten in his own last five fights, with four wins and a draw. Most recently, he picked up a decision win over Dustin Jacoby in December at UFC 296.
