A widely expected bantamweight clash has been added to UFC 300, as former champs Deiveson Figueiredo (flyweight) and Cody Garbrandt (bantamweight) will face off at the event.
UFC CEO Dana White announced the news on Friday. The bout had previously been reported by Ag.Fight.
UFC 300 takes place on April 13, 2024 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. No main event has been announced for the milestone show as of yet.
Figueiredo (22-3-1) defeated Rob Font late last year, in the “God of War’s” bantamweight debut. The former flyweight champ had gone 1-2-1 in his four-fight series with Brandon Moreno prior to that.
Cody Garbrandt (14-5) bounced back in 2023, picking up back-to-back wins for the first time in six years. He started out the year with a win over Trevin Jones, then knocked out Brian “Boom” Kelleher at UFC 296 last month.
Following that last win, Garbrandt actually called out Deiveson Figueiredo — and he now has his wish.
UFC 300 has one title fight announced so far, with at least two more anticipated, as well as numerous former champs and other big names. The following match-ups have been reported to date:
- Zhang Weili (c) vs. Yan Xiaonan — for the UFC women’s strawweight championship
- Charles Oliveira vs. Arman Tsarukyan — title eliminator
- Jiří Procházka vs. Aleksandar Rakić
- Calvin Kattar vs. Aljamain Sterling
- Bo Nickal vs. Cody Brundage
- Deiveson Figueiredo vs. Cody Garbrandt
