Creative and sometimes crazed flyweight Tim Elliott faced off with Su Mudaerji on the UFC Vegas 83 main card on Saturday — and Elliott’s unhinged, unorthodox creativity was on display from the outset.
In the opening minute, Elliott could be seen hopping on one leg, firing a kick to the body when Mudaerji attempted to catch the limb. From there, it was the patented awkward movement of Elliott on the feet that shone through, then a wild takedown attempt about two minutes in. Elliott managed to land a smashing elbow while still completing the attempt, putting Mudaerji on his back well away from the fence.
On top, Elliott looked for an opening on the bloodied Mudaerji, landing a few elbows then stepping over into an arm-triangle choke. The choke was in tight, so tight in fact that Mudaerji fought it, spit a bit of blood, then went to sleep, with ref Herb Dean quickly in to call off the fight. A brilliant performance by Tim Elliott, who proved to be a step above at UFC Vegas 83.
The win sees Elliott return to the win column following a loss to prospect Muhammad Mokaev— a win Tim Elliott claims on short notice no less.
