“Sh*t happens! Tore groin! I’ll be back very soon!” Chikadze wrote alongside the clip.
Giga Chikadze (15-3) was set to face Josh Emmett at UFC 296 on Dec. 16, but the injury has scrapped that fight. The event takes place at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, headlined by a welterweight title fight between Leon Edwards and Colby Covington.
Emmett, who trains with Urijah Faber’s Team Alpha Male, took to social media to ask for an opponent to step up and fight him in Las Vegas.

Who’s ready Dec 16th? #UFC296— JOSH EMMETT (@JoshEmmettUFC) December 4, 2023
“Giga’s out. Who’s ready Dec 16th?” questioned Emmett.
Georgia’s Chikadze was looking to get one more fight in before the end of 2023 before suffering the injury. Typical recovery from an injury like this, depending on severity, can range from four to sixteen weeks.
Giga Chikadze most recently pulled from a fight against Sodiq Yusuff in September of 2022, but no reason was ever disclosed. Emmett last competed against Yair Rodriguez, where he was submitted as part of an interim featherweight title fight.
