New York, NY – UFC lightweight Benoit Saint-Denis is excited to have a game opponent in Matt Frevola at UFC 295 on Saturday night.
“I like the guy because he took the challenge right away. He’s taking (a) risk because he is ranked, I’m not, and I believe he likes challenges,” Saint-Denis told reporters including Cageside Press on Wednesday.
“He’s not afraid to brawl and to go against me. It will be (a) great fight. I’m expecting a tough guy. He’s well rounded, he’s got good cardio, he believes in himself like I do. It’s a fight between two tough guys.”
Saint-Denis goes into enemy territory which favors Frevola who’s from Long Island. The crowd will be behind his opponent, but that doesn’t bother Saint-Denis.
“In France (MMA) got legalized very (recently). Obviously I did only two fight in France for the UFC. Before that I was traveling all around the world to get fights because in France I couldn’t. So I’ve always been booed. Only cheered in Paris. It’s not a problem for me. I like that,” he said.
For as much as Frevola is a tough and game opponent, Saint-Denis isn’t shy himself. Considered to be one of the more violent lightweights in the world he doesn’t shy away from that.
“I’m here to take the BMF place you know,” Saint-Denis said with a smile.
“No worries.”
