Featherweight action is signed for the UFC’s January 13, 2024 Fight Night event — the first UFC card of the new year.
Westin Wilson (16-8) will face Gabriel Santos (10-2) at the event, which does not yet have a venue, location, or broadcast plan officially announced — though all signs point to the UFC Apex in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Iridium Sports Agency, who represent Wilson, recently announced the booking, with both fighters confirming the news on social media.
Whoever comes out on top in Wilson vs. Santos on January 13 will be coming away with their first UFC victory. Wilson, who spent the better part of a decade on the regional scene, fell to Joanderson Brito this past July, stopped inside of the opening round. The bout was Wilson’s first in the UFC.
Santos has gone 0-2 inside the octagon to date, losing back-to-back appearances against Lerone Murphy and David Onama — far from the easiest introduction to the promotion, to be fair.
The Brazilian had won LFA’s featherweight tournament prior to signing with the big show.
The UFC’s Jan. 13, 2024 Fight Night card does not have a main event announced, but the following match-ups have been reported for the event thus far:
- Andrei Arlovski vs. Waldo Cortes-Acosta
- Norma Dumont vs. Yana Santos
- Marcus McGhee vs. Gastón Bolaños
- Bassil Hafez vs. Preston Parsons
- Ricky Simón vs. Mario Bautista
- Westin Wilson vs. Gabriel Santos
