UFC Vegas 80: Ricky Glenn Admits He’s Had Eye On Dober Since Sharing Card In 2009

Ricky Glenn will look to bounce back from his first career KO loss this Saturday, as he takes on Drew Dober, who also suffered his first career KO loss in his last outing.

As of late, “The Gladiator” has struggled to put wins together with the last time he scored back-to-back wins being back in 2017. Since then, the 34-year-old has made the decision to re-connect with his former team, Revolution MMA, where he will be coached by Erik Koch.

Interestingly, when Koch was an active fighter, he prepared to fight Drew Dober on two separate occasions, but injuries to Koch resulted in the fights falling through both times.

In 2009 a fresh faced Drew Dober stepped into the confines of a cage for a professional bout for the first time. On the same card was Ricky Glenn. At the UFC Vegas 80 media day, Glenn (22-7-2) admitted that back then, he knew one day he’d meet Dober in the cage.

“I’ve kind of had my eye on him since 2008, quite a while. He’s beat some big names, I know this is a big opportunity and I’m looking forward to taking hold and seizing the moment and leveling up big time in my career.

“He was impressive [when they shared a card in 2009], he won, he had the kickboxing background and had a big following even back then and I just had that feeling that we’d meet some day, and now here we are.”
