The returning Alex Reyes, and we do mean returning, met newcomer Charlie Campbell in a lightweight match-up at Noche UFC on Saturday.

The preliminary card fight found Reyes in action for the first time in six years, after a spinal infection had nearly ended his career. That was always going to be a tall order, and it proved too tall in the end.

As the fight got underway, both fighters were feeling each other out to get a good read. Campbell was aggressive early with the leg kicks and was frequently throwing them. Reyes caught a kick but Campbell landed some punches hurting Reyes.

Campbell then floored Reyes with a right hand. Reyes was surviving but Campbell was going after him landing some power punches. Although he was being reckless Campbell still ended up finding that power right hand sending Reyes down and the ref in! After coming up short on the Contender Series a while back, Campbell had a much better night in his UFC debut.

Following the win, Campbell asked UFC broadcaster and former double-champ Daniel Cormier what he thought of the performance — then cut him off with a “it doesn’t matter what you think!” line delivered in the fashion of The Rock. He then shouted out Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, saying he was a big fan. D.C., a noted pro wrestling enthusiast, joked he’d let Campbell live for the crack.

Official Result: Charlie Campbell def. Alex Reyes by TKO (right hand), Round 1, 3:38
